Mentoring Programs
The mentoring program pairs employees with mentors throughout the corporation. The mentors and mentees work together over a one-year period of time in a partnership that benefits both the mentor and mentee. Employees can apply for either the Corporate Program "People Building People" or our "Leadership in Action" Program.
Professional Development Program
We are proud of the fact that we appeal to people who want to move ahead quickly in their careers. Our goal is to provide the opportunities necessary to attract and retain top talent. One way to achieve that goal is through our Professional Development Program. This program helps motivate employees to accelerate their development through challenging assignments, training and career development, special rotational assignments and a mentoring program that allows constant feedback and support. The program offers participants a broad perspective on the company and it helps us decide who’s best for key positions throughout the corporation. The general format of the program includes 2 to 4 rotational assignments, generally over a 2-4 year period. After successful completion of the program, participants are placed in a position that best matches the company’s business needs and their interests. Currently, we have opportunities in Accounting, Engineering and Human Resources.

Communication & Collaboration Conference
This conference is an opportunity for employees from various departments and locations within Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. and Great Plains Natural Gas Co. to get to know one another and discuss work related topics, which further make our companies greater places to work.
CEO’s Conference
The CEO's Conference is designed to provide a challenging opportunity for selected high potential individuals to stretch themselves beyond their normal responsibilities. This developmental opportunity provides increased visibility to those individuals who may not have the opportunity to present to and interface with the executive management team.
Each operating company president nominates individuals to be considered for participation in the CEO's Conference. The CEO selects individuals for participation and assigns them a topic related to the corporation's operations. As part of a three-member team, individuals study, research, network and use other methods to address the topic and its impact on the corporation. Each team member is expected to write a 15-20 page report on their findings and to give a 15-20 minute verbal presentation on the topic. Each team, at the conclusion of their presentation, will respond to questions.
